Franz Haas' signature Pinot Noir has distinguished itself over the years for its class and elegance. Among the best Italian expressions of the famous French red grape variety, it is a testament to how only a deep knowledge of the terroir and of a variety that is difficult to cultivate and domesticate can lead to results of the highest quality.
Haas's Pinot Noir comes from vines located between 350 and 900 meters, situated on the hills of Mazzon, Gleno and Montagna. The high density per hectare, and low vine yields allow for qualitatively perfect fruit. Vinification and fermentation take place in open tanks followed by aging for about a year in barriques and a few months in bottles. It is considered by Franz "the white among reds," by virtue of its color and the extreme finesse that distinguishes its indelible aromas and unique flavor.
Depending on the vintage, Pinot Noir wine shows hues that vary from light ruby red to a more intense one. The nose is crisp and lively, ranging from hints of ripe fruit such as cherry and plum jam to spicy touches of cinnamon and clove. The juicy, rhythmic sip is punctuated by the admirable balance between freshness and savoriness, but softened by sweet, extremely fine-grained tannins. A wine manifesting transversality, it accompanies fish dishes, white meats and lightly seasoned red meats with great satisfaction. A refined wine of great drinkability, one bottle may not be enough!
