‘K-Or’ Cahors Malbec Clos Troteligotte represents a remarkable balance label, created through a truly sustainable production approach. The ‘K’ line was conceived in 2004 with the intention of showcasing the different facets that the Cahors territory impresses on Malbec based on the iron content of the soil. In fact, the Clos Troteligotte estate is located at the top of a plateau particularly rich in this metal. Here, Emmanuel Rybinski produces various Cahors labels according to an innovative style that simultaneously respects the traditional expression of the territory. The red illustration of the “K” on the label was chosen to highlight the bloody notes that the wine releases.
The Clos Troteligotte Cahors ‘K-Or’ is a 100% Malbec grown on clay-limestone soils. The plants, cultivated under certified organic and biodynamic regimes, are 30 years old. The grapes are hand-harvested with a micro-parcel selection and the subsequent alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously thanks to the sole interventionof indigenous yeasts. The contact between the must and the skins is prolonged and associated with a soft extraction, with the mass fully undergoing spontaneous malolactic fermentation and, subsequently, spending a full 18 months of maturation in cement tanks. Throughout the winemaking process, no dose of sulfites is added.
The Cahors Malbec ‘K-Or’ from Clos Troteligotte has an intense ruby red color. From the glass emerge lively notes of red fruits, combined with rich floral and mineral perceptions. Soft and at the same time fresh and drinkable taste development, with remarkable agility and juiciness, with well-integrated tannins that anticipate the long harmonious and fruity epilogue.
